Feed My Lambs

Image
Feed My Lambs This week, I have been enjoying reading the Holy Week Devotionals from Proverbs 31 Women. They are short and thoughtful and are helping me to focus on the sacredness of this week, and to remember the incredible sacrifice Jesus made for us. Today’s author, Lisa TerKeurst, referenced John 11 and 17 so this morning I decided to dig into that section of Scripture during my quiet time.  I had some extended time to talk to Jesus since I was off for Spring Break ๐Ÿ™‚  I read John 11 and then hopped over to John 17 to 21, and just really spent time thinking about what the events leading up to the crucifixion might have been like. I thought I would share a few of my favorite takeaways from this section of Scripture.   ๐Ÿ“–Jesus’ prayer for ME…for all of us as believers, He prayed for ME - when He was facing the most awful, brutal death, He took the time to pray for ME and for YOU.  Kind of sits you back in your chair, doesn’t it? John 17:23  “I in th...

What is your 5 + 2?

⚔️Let’s dig in to what God’s Word says. Today we are reading John 6:1-15. If you have grown up going to church, you have heard, read, and probably taught that lesson over and over again. But have you ever thought about how that might connect to your life right now? As an adult? As a Mom? As an employee? The passage starts off with Jesus teaching near the Sea of Galilee and a large crowd was following Him. He went up to the mountain and the crowd was pressing in around Him. His disciples, always practical…recognize that they are getting hungry and start wondering how in the world they were going to feed all of the people that had been following Jesus. This just reminds me again that the disciples were mostly young! They were teenagers - and teenagers get hungry - you know what I mean! Philip is figuring out that they do not have nearly enough money to buy even a little bit for each person. But Jesus does. Think about that, even as Philip is asking, can you just imagine that m...

Jump

Image
JUMP One of my VERY favorite songs of ALL time is “JUMP” by Van Halen. Yup, you read that correctly, a middle aged, Jesus loving mamma, whose favorite song is Jump? And, one of my favorite artists - Toby Mac๐Ÿ˜„ But, keep reading! Let me connect the dots for you. Me and Susan (my 274,000 mile Honda Pilot…more on her later), have listened to that song over and over and over - windows down, sunroof open - with my kids or by myself. I never get tired of it… It’s my charge up song. If I had a walk up song as I was confidently striding up to the plate in the World Series, JUMP would be my song!! One of my favorite recent memories is walking out of the airport in Austin, TX into beautiful sunshine, looking for Cole in the Captiva. Tears filling my eyes in anticipation of seeing my college student for the first time in too many months. After a quick hug and loading my luggage into the back. I get in the car to a coffee and the radio blasting…you got it…JUMP! My walk up song! When ...

Susan

Image
Let me introduce you to Susan…no, she is not my daughter - I am the proud Mama of boys! She is….my car :) Not quite sure why she has the nickname, Susan, but Cole and his friends gave her the name on their Senior Trip to Maine, and it stuck. Susan has lived a lot of life. She has seen the East Coast up to Maine. She has traveled multiple times to Texas. She has hauled rabbits, animal feed, groceries, kids, baseball equipment, Norwex displays, yard sale items, trash picked furniture, beach “stuff”, just to name a few things. And, along the way, there has been A LOT of life lived in Susan. She saw both of my boys take the wheel and drive home from their permit tests. She was privy to great conversations, angry words, lots of tears, and lots of laughter. She probably listened to Toby Mac “Backseat Driver” thousands of times! Her radio can rock it! The sunroof has been left open in the rain, she has been cleaned out from the dirt and mess of years of the Fai...

Stained

News Flash:  No one is perfect, not me, not you.  I know that comes as a shock, ( I mean the part about me not being perfect ๐Ÿคฃ) but it is true. We all bear the stain of sin, of wrong choices, of mistakes. We ALL make mistakes and poor choices..   Read that again. Our kids will ALL make mistakes and poor choices. Read that again. BUT… The love of God covers it all.  We are not the sum of our sins.  We may make mistakes, but each of us has a choice.  A choice of how to walk forward after mistakes are made. When you can recognize your mistake, apologize and move on, that is the beauty of God working in you.  And, as parents, helping our kids to navigate mistakes is both a great challenge and a great joy. When, not if, someone treats you poorly or gets mad, or lies to you, You have a choice. You can write them off, hold a grudge, ignore them, choose not to spend time with them (and you may need to create healthy boundaries).  OR… You can get...
